Typical Duties of a Private Chef
A private chef is a member of the staff that will prepare all the meals for the principals and their family, based on their taste, culture and dietary restrictions. Likewise, the private chef will cook for events and dinner parties that the Principals may organize. Private chefs’ duties may include but are not restricted to:
- Creating all in-house meals/snacks for Family members, guests, house staff
- The private chef can specialize in French, Mediterranean, Asian, Japanese, Middle-Eastern or Vegeterian / Vegan, and fusion cuisine
- Working alongside other staff members for all aspects of grocery shopping, supply procurement, and managing inventory
- Maintaining detailed inventory lists
- Sanitation and organization of the kitchen (refrigerator, pantries, drawers)
- Responsible for kitchen health & safety and food hygiene
- Ensuring all areas are kept to the strictest cleanliness
- Carrying out reasonable additional tasks as requested by the house manager
Salary Expectations for a Private Chef
Full-Time Live-in private chef (7am to 7pm – Monday to Friday/Saturday)
UK/Overseas: From £ Salary ranges from ££850 – 1500 net per week plus benefits which may include fully paid housing, car, health insurance, and clothing allowance or others.
